Holiday Gift Guide

The winter holiday season is a great time to buy people new technology and get acquainted with it. The days are short and the nights are long, leaving people plenty of time to get familiar with their new gifts. That doesn't necessarily make teaching new tech simple, however. Don't worry, we got you covered for that, too.

Give Smart

Amazon Alexa (5th Gen, 2022 release) with clock is a great introduction to smart home assistants. She has a clock on her face, so she immediately has use, even if it takes a while to make use of the smart features like playing music, checking the weather, setting reminders and more.

Alexas make a great starter smart device because she can answer basic questions immediately upon setup. Alexas do require an Amazon.com account.

Give Joy

What's better than a framed photo of your kids for grandma? A frame that slideshows through thousands of precious photos–old and new, of course! With digital display frames, you can remotely manage and send new photos, delighting grandparents everywhere, even if they're not great with tech.

My go-to trusted resource for reviews is the New York Times' site Wirecutter. They test and review just about anything with independent research. Their pick for digital photo frame is the Aura Mason, which can be remotely managed so you're not having to make tech support calls to refresh the photos.

My suggestion is to 1. order the frame 2. ship it to yourself, 3. preload it with photos and then 4. gift the loaded photo frame to your loved one. That way, they can just plug and play and you have a remote connection to manage photos. Others can add photos, too.

Give Peace

Whether you give or receive ANY tech gifts this season, I recommend the gift of an hour with moi, Helpnology for sanity-saving tech support.

I offer one on one tech support in-person in the Boston area, by Zoom, FaceTime or even over the phone (100% satisfaction or your money back!).

One gift I do not recommend is rushing out to buy the latest and greatest gadget to impress your family and friends. Instead, gift time with me so they understand more about the tech tools they already have. Plus, patience (mine, nor yours) is a priceless gift.
